Meet AIS Employee Spotlight Adam Metz
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
I am actually pretty handy. My wife and I are remodeling our house and doing most of the work ourselves. It is a fun project, a lot of work, but worth it!
What is your favorite food? Why did you pick this as your favorite?
Burgers, because they are so versatile that you can make something for almost any mood or craving you can think of.
What are two of your favorite hobbies?
Outdoor activities and whiskey.
If you could choose any animal to be, what would it be and why?
Wolf. They are loyal, strong, stoic, playful, and fierce.
What gets you out of bed every morning?
My family.
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your younger self?
Take more risks and travel. Every risk I took and trip I took is a great memory. The ones I didn’t are haunting.
What is your personal mantra?
“Embrace this moment, Remember, We are eternal, All this pain is an illusion” -Maynard James Keenan
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An athlete.
What does your morning routine look like?
Walk the dog, spend a few moments with the wife and kids and go to work.
Do you have any pets? What are their names and what are they like?
Pippin is our 5-year-old Pitbull. We rescued Pippin from City Dogs Kennel. He is playful but scared of almost everything. He looks like this big scary dog but he is a huge baby!
What kind of activities do you like to do with your friends or family?
Hiking, biking, swimming, sports, breweries, and travel
If you won the lottery and had a million dollars, what would you do with it?
Travel.
What was your favorite vacation?
Ireland with my wife and a couple of friends. We stayed in a different town every night and drove over 700 miles in 6 days. We saw so much of the country and got to meet a lot of really cool people.
If you could have dinner with any person from any time period, who would it be and why?
Abraham Lincoln. He seemed like a very smart, stoic, and poised person in one of the most volatile times in our countries history. He gave his life to help give people a chance to make their way in this world based on their character and not the color of their skin or where they came from.
If you were to write a memoir, what would the title be?
I can’t believe that just happened!
What made you want to work where you’re at now?
I worked in retail for 7 years, working my way up the ladder but I wanted a change. Kevin Knaack actually recruited me from our time working together and was the best decision I could make for my family and career. I took a risk but it was well worth it.
Before working at your current job, what was the most interesting job you had?
I was the youth and adult sports coordinator for the largest YMCA in the world for over 2 years. It is outside of Cincinnati and had a huge complex.
What do you look forward to most when you walk into work?
Problem-solving for our employees, co-workers, and partners. It keeps every day fresh and exciting.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
Helping a company grow, helping an employee change their lives. Getting a thank you from someone you gave an opportunity to is extremely rewarding.
What’s unique about the culture at your company?
The passion, celebrating or venting, nothing happens at half speed for the people that are truly part of the Alliance family.
What advice would you give to someone looking for a job right now?
Take a risk, do your homework but there is a reason you are looking for a job so don’t be scared to try something new. But don’t half-ass it, people don’t respond to that.
What do you find most rewarding about your job?
The stories people tell me about how a new job changed their lives.
What led you to a career in staffing?
The people I met with from the start seemed so genuine that I decided to take the risk. 7 years later, all of those people are still exactly who I thought they were and makes me happy I followed my gut.
What have you gained from working where you’re at?
Knowledge, friendships, career growth, gray hair, and an appreciation for the people and products that make this world turn.
What is your proudest moment at your job?
When a partner tells me that I understand who they are and that I helped them change their culture. When an employee tells me that they appreciate the opportunity and how they have succeeded in their new role!
